Multiple industries transitioned in to cost-effective, energy efficient, durable, and brighter lighting control systems

LED stands for Light-Emitting Diode. LED’s semiconductor light up when an electrical current pass through a microchip.

Since light is used within a semiconductor material, LEDs are described as solid-state devices. Solid-state lighting is used to distinguish difference forms of illumination eliminating heated filaments. The Department of Energy Solid State Program focuses on research and development of innovative LEDs sparking a LED lighting revolution.

LEDs produce light approximately 90 percent more efficiently than incandescent light bulbs. LED lighting has been replaced to minimize energy cost. The DOE research states that LED lighting has the potential to reduce energy cost by 75 percent.

LEDs are durable in the sense that they have a longer lifespan than other lighting, usually lasting between 55,000 hours. LEDs don’t “burn out” like florescent bulbs, the brightness of the LED dims slowly over time. Thermal management is an important factor in preserving an LEDs lifetime. We always recommend customers to protect their LEDs with our Aluminum Channels.

All these factors explain the high demand of LED technology.
